While the Skittle has been a great car, I have never had great luck with the motor mounts. In fact, the primary motor mount and Transmission amount have been filled, the transmission mount nearly completely refabricated. As if that’s not enough, the transmission bell housing has actually broken where the pitch mount bolts to. I know it’s not a race car, unfortunately, It can’t even handle a little over 100hp. With this said, I have decided to add a fourth mount. More info in the captions below.

Stitching along the front makes this incredibly strong
Building a bracket for the Scion TC motor mount
Lower portion of the bracket welded to the new lower support bar
Side view of the bracket… clearly we need some more strength
There it is! A tab becomes a bracket

Modified Scion come Aveo mount
Love this hammered finish
The Rustoleum Hammered finish leaves a great texture even after just one coat
I like this!
Time to put it back together – Mount fully installed
Bottom view
totally blurry
The passenger side splash sheild requires some modification to fit
Drilled and tapped the new lower support bar
10mm bolts now hold the splash cover
Tap dat!
This wire used to go where the new support bar is. Simple holes allow me to reuse the OEM clips
Wire run is close to the OEM run
Fan mounted, AC line is the only real issue
AC Line can no longer go under the fan
Another view showing how I bent the AC Line to go behind the fan. Not ideal, but the other option is a smaller fan
Passenger cover back on
Motor mount glamour shot as seen through the wheel well
All together, ready for a test drive!
Doesn’t look any different… thats a good thing
