Meet Project Resurrection. This car was taken in as a rebuild project which I will restore for the purpose of reselling. A 93 Impreza can only pull around $2000 so my goal is to keep the overall costs low enough that I can sell it for $2000 and make some profit.
Now for an overview of the car. Click on the picture for a larger image along with a small description. If you prefer a more musical view, I set the images to “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” as well.
Bumper is a little rough, fender looks good
Closer shot of the bumper shows lots of pits
Minor scrape on the bumper and fender will probably buff out
Closer look at the bumper and fender
Not bad for 190,000 miles
Battery not tied down, aftermarket poorly installed starter cable
Dirty engine, lots of residue around the power steering pump. Might need a replacement.
Another shot of a dirty yet smooth running engine
Lots of soot, will need to clean it and see what the source is
Wrinkled hood from flying up on the freeway. Glad I wasn’t driving when that happened.
Busted wiper.
Some slight dents in the roof line.
I guess they couldn’t find smaller tires.
Northern types would refer to this as cancer.
This shows the only real interior damage, a peeling vinyl door card. I don’t know how to fix this, but I’m sure there’s options.
Looks pretty bad, really just needs a good polish.
Dash was removed, but seems to be mostly there.
Carpet looks pretty good. Can’t say the same for the floor matts.
This seat looks a little shifty to me.
This rip will probably stay.
No cracks, everything looks pretty good other than being dirty.
There was an afttermarket stereo installed and the harness was left behind. I’ll put an old mp3 player in here along with the pocket from my Aveo ISO din. I’ll do some cleaning first though.
Broken and doesn’t move. Oh well, looks like the HVAC controllers will need a replacement.
Dent in the rear door, I suspect its from people trying to shut it with their hip. Looking lower, you could see that it is not shutting right because the door goes over the body instead of the door pocket. This is caused by improper jacking or perhaps the car took a hit on the undercarraige.
This shows the overlap in the door.
You can see the crease where the door frame goes up and in.
Rear seat is in good shape. Again some more cleaning needed.
The lower portion of the rear seat.
Here you can see some of the clear coat damage. Thats the biggest issue with this car in my opinion.
Some rope, some floor mats and a bag of gloves that need to go back to who I purchased this gem from. OK, maybe gem is not quite the word to choose. The cover plate for the jack is on top of the car during this picture.
A privacy cover. No headrests.
Door needed some adjustment, all of the wheels are going to get painted flat black using enamal and a high density foam brush.
Some jacking damage, but not so much as to affect the door.
Some marks from using this wagon as a wagon. Another dirty door card.
Rough paint, seems to be par for this course.
YIKES! this looks bad. Looks better after a scrub, but more work to do.
Work in progress, notice there are no rips or tears or anything other than layers of dirt.
Look at me, I’m a door card.
There’s some paint, super cleaner in an unmarked bottle, copper spray… oh yeah and a door. Not sure what I meant to show with this picture.
Stereo hole to be filled in later.
The bad dent. Looks like the car was in reverse, wheel turned while looking back, BAM! a pole. My wife demonstrated this technique a few months after picking up her 2008 Element SC. This fender is currently off and has already begun the repair process. The airbox is also damaged and will just be tossed. I might make a new intake to cut down on intake sound.
Another dent view and more bumper hottness. Notice the lights are in good shape, so are all the marker lights.
The airbox muffler seems to be growing duct tape. I always wanted a duct tap farm.
Fender liner is damaged but useable. That wire you are looking at, currently routed through the spring is for the Airbag sensor. That’s a little scary, I’ll tidy that up a bit when the fender is off.
Bent but not entirely broken fender liner clips. I plan on reusing most of these once I straghten out the fender.
First time seeing this picture. Looks pretty good, I suspect the cam seals are leaking. I’ll know more when I pull the engine and clean it all up.
Oil drip. Not sure yet if its the transmission or engine. I’m hoping its the engine.
Pretty dry, the steering boot looks good.
Doesn’t look too bad except for where the wet spot is on the CAT. Looks like the transmission is leaking.
