Phenolic Spacers
I first ran across this idea while reading an Autospeed article. The car that did this is a normally aspirated MX-3. The temperatures dropped somewhat dramatically and his performance enhancement was figured to be a few horsepower. Not bad for a little mod. I'm hoping with the extra temperatures seen in a force inducted car, the results will be even more promising. Not only will there be a performance increase, but the chance of detonation should decrease.

Minimum Temp |

Ambient Air Temp | 19C | 19C |
Engine Bay | 31C | 48C |
Intake Manifold | 19C | 50C |
Notes:
By Ambient Air Temperature, I mean outside temperature.
For the engine bay temperatures, I had the probe attached to my BOV tube which is between the passenger side of the intake manifold and firewall.
The intake manifold temperatures were taking by twist tying the temperature probe to the manifold right next to the fuel rail.
I had a chart showing what the intake runners themselves do at idle. The temperature was taken just above the injectors using a laser temperature probe pointed on the intake manifold every 30 seconds for a total of 15 minutes. Unfortunately this info has since been lost.
