1993 Subaru Impreza Power Steering Pump Rebuild
by Subachad on Jan.16, 2011, under Installs
Subaru power steering pumps always seem to leak after a few years. On my original Impreza I just let it leak until it got so bad I replaced the pump. If I knew I could fix it for $20, I probably would not have picked up that used replacement.
Honda Element SC Rear Bumper Replacement Part 2
by Subachad on Aug.02, 2010, under Body, Installs
In Part 1 of this 2 part series we removed the bumper cover, the crash bar and the beam. Now it’s time to re-center the tailgate and put everything back together.
It’s been about a month since the actual install so I’ll let the pictures and descriptions do the talking.
Building an Aveo Brace Brace – Eliminating the Torque.
by Subachad on Feb.17, 2010, under Drivetrain, Engine, Suspension
No it’s not typo, it’s a brace to brace the brace. Looking a few post back, you will see that I somehow managed to break the transmission where a bolt mounts the torque mount to. That wouldn’t have been so bad if the other bolt didn’t fall out a few months before. The end result was a brace that would actually pivot allowing the engine to twist while power was applied. This in turn would cause the gear lever to pull forward and actually pop out of 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear.
RSLRA Turbo Relocation April 2008
by Subachad on Feb.07, 2010, under Engine
Finally a chance to build something using melted steel. Not sure what it is about basic fabrication work, but it’s almost always a good time. Add to that, I haven’t actually made anything in a while so it’s nice to keep the skills fresh.
The project started by loading up my welder, 4.5” angle grinder, electric die grinder, wire brush, gloves, welding helmet, porting bits and a few other misc fabrication tools into the Skittle and headed off to James for some work on his Beastly rear wheel drive Impreza.
Aveo Motor Mount – Round 1 – Transmission Mount
by Subachad on Jan.27, 2010, under Drivetrain, Engine
Generally, this would come before round 2, but that doesn’t always work out. At any rate, here are the pictures from filling the transmission mount.
